ABOUT THE HOST ORGANIZATIONS:

The JET Alumni Association of Northern California (JETAANC) represents the nearly 3,000 former participants of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program who now live in Northern California and Nevada. JETAANC continues the mission of the JET Program to foster foreign language education and grass-roots internationalization. The organization works closely with the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco as well as other Japan related local organizations. All JET Alumni have at least a bachelor's degree; many have graduate degrees as well as experience working in many different industries.

The University of San Francisco Center for Asia Pacific Studies is a leader in bridging the Pacific through programs that promote understanding, cooperation and cultural exchange. The Center for Asia Pacific Studies promotes and fosters research and teaching through symposia, conferences, public programs, fellowships, a Chinese Studies research group and a visiting scholars program. The Center for Asia Pacific Studies oversees and is the primary administrative office for the Master of Arts in Asia Pacific Studies (MAPS), the Ricci Institute for Chinese-Western Cultural History and the journal Asia Pacific Perspectives.

The Master of Arts in Asia Pacific Studies (MAPS) program at the University of San Francisco provides students with cultural competency and knowledge of the Asia Pacific region. Highlighting the area's rich history and diverse cultures, this innovative, interdisciplinary program allows students to grow intellectually and realize their future goals. The MAPS Program prepares students for a variety of careers, including those in the public and non-profit sectors, international education, foreign service and business.
